The NABA National Convention & Expo will be held June 6-10, 2017, in New Orleans, LA.

Did you know that more than 300 volunteers are needed each year to help make our annual National Convention & Expo a success?  Make volunteering a part of your Convention experience!

Volunteer opportunities start on Monday, June 5th, with final onsite preparation and set up and continue with pre-convention events on June 6th, Convention programs June 7th to 9th and culminate with our NABACares Day-of-Service event on Saturday, June 10th.

Why Volunteer?

Networking is often cited as the primary benefit of volunteering.  After all, when you are part of the behind-the-scenes team, you have a unique opportunity to meet and work with other volunteers, speakers, exhibitors, NABA leadership at every level – chapter, regional and national and the national office team.  Here are a few additional benefits of volunteering that are worth considering:

  • Earn prizes and discounts on membership dues or registration for next year’s convention (based on hours worked)

Volunteer Opportunities

NABA Members can volunteer in a variety of roles for a few hours or throughout Convention.

Registration.  Assist with welcoming attendees, registration check-in and distributing of registration materials.

CPE Session Moderator.  Assist with the session for all needs of the presenter.

Session Area Monitor.  Check rooms to provide assistance to room moderator and speaker.

Career Expo.  Assist with welcoming Exhibitors, exhibitor check-in, help exhibitors with receiving their credentials and locating their booth.  During the Expo, scan-in attendees, attendees find exhibitor booths, assist with materials, and encourage attendees to visit the Expo.

Bag Stuffing.  Assist with inserting materials into the tote bags that are provided to all conference attendees.

Directional Staff.  Help attendees find their way around the meeting space. You may need to assist attendees who have mobility issues and/or appear to need help. This may include elderly attendees, those in wheel chairs or on crutches, or those who are vision impaired. 

Signature Program Support.  Depending on the event, volunteers will assist with guest check-in and confirm access (for ticketed events), scan-in attendees, distribute drink tickets, place programs and other special materials on seats/tables, assist with seating.

Set-up & Breakdown.  Assist in both the set-up and breakdown of up the National Office, as well as setting up event displays or meeting rooms, moving signs, or help with moving materials between locations throughout the conference.


Sign-up in 3 Easy Steps!

Sign-up is free, easy and takes just a few minutes. Some volunteers will be required to attend mandatory Volunteer Training on Monday afternoon.  Please watch for communication to confirm your assignments, in case you will need to plan your travel to ensure that you are onsite by 3pm on Monday, June 5th.  
 
Step 1:  Register as a Volunteer.
Note: The system will ask you to enter your personal information so that it can link your volunteer registration with your convention registration.  If you have not yet registered for convention, click “Start” when prompted to continue with your Volunteer Registration.

Step 2:  Update your contact information
When prompted, select “Hilton New Orleans Riverside” then click “Continue”

Step 3:  Browse the roles & shifts available, and select the option(s) that fit your schedule.
You will receive an email confirming your registration!
