Barry C. Winters, CPA Bio
Barry C. Winters was a native of St. Louis Missouri and was employed as a Senior Manager with the Sara Lee Corporation, a $12 billion Chicago based global manufacturer of high-quality, brand-named products for consumers throughout the world. In his role at Sara Lee, Barry was primarily responsible managing business process outsourcing and leading other special projects aimed at streamlining accounting tasks and optimizing the accounting close process. Prior to that role, Barry was responsible for directing and administering internal audit activities for finance and information technology audits of the various worldwide divisions of Sara Lee.
Barry also worked for the Pepsi-Cola Company, several years with the national CPA firm of Grant Thornton and at a small consulting firm where he began his career. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of St. Louis University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, emphasis Accounting. Barry was a lifetime member of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA), a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Barry was very involved and devoted a great deal of his time to NABA. From 2002 – 2006, Barry served as Executive Vice-President, chairing the National Convention Committee. Previous roles on NABA national board included National Director of Membership, President of NABA’s Central Region as well as National Secretary.
In addition to his work with NABA, Barry was a past board member of the St. Louis Public Library, where he served on the audit committee. He served as the Director of Accounting for the UNCF Telethon for the United Negro College Fund and participated in the Career Pathfinders Program with the St. Louis Public Schools.
